Instructor: Laura Tanzer
Skill Level: Beginner-Advanced
Creative Mending is a great way to cultivate your inner artisan by mending your favorite items with a bit of fun and flair. Bring that fave jacket or sneakers or tote or pillow (or any textile item) to the workshop and learn a few techniques with which to mend while also making that item new!
Learn a few stitches. Add a bit of textile or trim for a visual contrast or simply layer on thread with hand sewing. The cost of the workshop includes a small mending kit (hand-sewing needle, thread, and small fabric/trim remnants).
Please note *** A materials fee of $10 is due to the instructor at the time of the class.
Additional fabrics will be available for a small fee, payable at the workshop ($5 each).

About the Instructor:
I am a sustainability artisan, entrepreneur, textile artist, clothing engineer, and educator. I work with textiles, sculpting wearable art for the body.
I experiment with digital printing by printing my art photographs on textiles and using those prints as a basis for creating wearable art for the body. I use raw materials such as vintage and dead stock – all are natural fiber materials, such as cotton, silk, and linen. I create almost no waste and teach others how to do the same. My workshops are ‘small batch’ – limited to less than 10 in person as well as online. That affords participants individual attention. I teach the skills for working with textiles, including, but not limited to sewing, handwork, pattern making, and draping.
The Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen does not provide cash refunds for the cancellation of classes unless the class is canceled by the instructor or the Guild.
In order to request a withdrawal from a workshop, students must contact the Guild by phone at 717-431-8706 or contact us here at least 7 days prior to the class. Students who request a withdrawal at least 7 days prior to the class will receive a credit that can be used toward another workshop. No refunds or transfers will be given to cancellation requests made with less than 24 hours’ notice of the class.
Please note that we are unable to provide refunds for missed classes due to personal scheduling conflicts. If you are sick with Covid-19 please email kelly@pacrafts.org.
