Dyeing with Frozen Wool – November 2

Instructor: Juliana Kapusta

Skill Level: Beginner

In this fun class we will be using the cold weather to our advantage. With frozen wool, we’ll create a multicolored piece of fabric. We will start with the basics of dyeing a single color then move on to the multicolored frozen wool and finish up with dyeing multiple colors on yarn. All the equipment and supplies are furnished. You will leave with 2 fat 1/4 yard pieces of woven 100% wool fabric and a 50 g mini skein of worsted weight yarn that is 85% wool and 15% alpaca AND all dyed by you. Then you can snuggle up at home and create something beautiful. The cost of the kit is $35. Multiple color options will be available for students to choose from.

Please note *** A materials fee of $35 is due to the instructor at the start of the class.

About the Instructor:
About the instructor: People have been dyeing wool since biblical times and most likely, before that. Juliana became interested in dyeing when she first learned to create traditional hooked rug tapestries. She wanted to be able to create the color that was in her mind’s eye. Juliana is a certified rug hooking teacher whose main objective is to teach students to create beauty whether as folk art or fine art. Her early formal training is in advertising and design. Currently she teaches adults in her home, at the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen, at Tyler Park Center for the Arts and has taught children’s home school art classes in both rug hooking and dyeing wool. Juliana is proud to have had her rugs published in Celebration of Hand Hooked Rugs 20, Celebration of Hand Hooked Rugs 24,
Hooking Animals and Design Basics for Rug Hookers. It is her joy to help people find a relaxing way to create color on wool which allows them to fabricate art. To view more of her work visit www.jkfabricateart.com
