Instructor: Jessica Keemer

Skill Level: All Skill Levels

Come and explore the world of glass bead-making! From the time you learn to light the torch and melt the glass, you will be guided through a variety of techniques including how to create particular bead shapes such as round or donut shapes, cylinders, and bicones. Shop maintenance and safety will be covered. Students will primarily be using borosilicate glass, the new material on the block that allows for beautiful swirls of color. Students will make basic beads, shaped beads, patterns, and learn different ways of applying glass to get different colors.

This class is designed for anyone interested in glass. If you have taken previous Flameworking Glass Bead classes, this class will build on your previous session.

Materials: A materials fee of $40 is included in your tuition. That covers a materials kit of glass rods, frits, bead release, and mandrels. There will be the option to purchase additional colors and types of glass by the rod if you would like. If you think you might like to purchase additional glass during class, please bring cash or a check.

Supplies: If you have any bead presses or other tools, feel free to bring them to class. Everything needed for this workshop will be provided, however.
