Instructor: Cheryl Lampard
Skill level: Beginner – Students must know the fundamentals of knitting and be able to cast on, knit, purl, and bind off.
This workshop is ideal for novice and lapsed knitters who know the basics and want to stretch their skills by creating something wearable and stylish. As well as learning some new skills, the aim of the class is to build confidence and creativity in your knitting – one stitch at a time. Under the guidance of Craft Yarn Council certified knitting educator Cheryl Lampard, you’ll learn how to read and follow a written pattern, combine knit and purl stitches to give shape and texture to your work, as well as acquiring other knitting tips along the way. After practicing the stitch pattern (which is deceptively simple and looks more complicated than it is!) you’ll begin a cozy neck wrap that’s both fun and easy to knit. Cheryl’s supportive, step-by-step approach ensures you’ll have all the techniques and tools you need to finish your accessory at home, so you’ll leave feeling proud of your progress and inspired to keep knitting.
What You’ll Learn:
Rib stitch patterns
Yarn overs
Understanding a written pattern
Joining a new ball of yarn
Weaving in tail ends
Starting your neck wrap project
Adding a flourish with fringe
Options for finishing your neck wrap
Get ready to learn, loop, and laugh with Cheryl Lampard – the Knitter Matters way!
This class is recommended for students aged 16+.
Please note **** A materials fee of $18 per student is due to the instructor at the start of the class via cash or check. Materials pack includes: yarn, needles, tapestry needle, and hook (for fringing). Please make checks out to Cheryl Gibbons.
