Woven Chain – February 19, 26, & March 5

Instructor: Beth deVitry

Skill Level: Beginner

Explore the art of creating woven and Etruscan-style chains in this hands-on jewelry-making class. Students will have the opportunity to weave their chain at home between classes. The second two weeks will be spent learning to make a handmade clasp for their chain. Under the guidance of an experienced instructor with 35 years of expertise, you’ll learn to manipulate wire and develop key metalworking skills, including:

Making Jump Rings: Learn to cut, shape, and form jump rings from wire to create the foundation of your chain.
Splicing & Fusing: Master the technique of splicing wires together and fusing jump rings shut for a seamless finish.
Wire Manipulation & Chain Weaving: Understand the process of weaving wire to create intricate, durable chains inspired by ancient techniques.
Forming, Forging, Soldering & Riveting: Gain hands-on experience in essential jewelry-making techniques that will allow you to create unique and polished pieces.
Finishing Techniques

Your completed project will be a one-of-a-kind silver chain that can be worn as-is or paired with a custom pendant. This class is ideal for beginners and those looking to refine their chain-making skills.
