Around 1999, I began to take some watercolor evening classes at a local high school. I was hooked by the creative process! Upon reading a 2002 article, in “Birds and Blooms” magazine entitled, “Her Canvases Grow on Trees” about an artist who painted on dried leaves, I had to try it. I have been painting on leaves ever since. I have been awarded numerous First Place and Best of Show Ribbons at local fairs for my leaf paintings. In August 2024, I was awarded “Master Artisan” status in Fine Art after presenting five of my bird paintings on preserved leaves to the PA Guild of Craftsmen jury. It is fun and satisfying to use a humble leaf for a work of art to enjoy for years to come.
