Instructor: Phil Hackman

Skill Level: Beginner

This workshop will be a free forum designed for the student to address techniques, artistic process, color theory and application, flame chemistry, research and development strategies, development of fundamentals, core design, etc. with the intention to grow in specific areas of interest. Drawing from over 20 years experience of artistry with borosilicate glass I’ll focus on the areas of development for the given student and diagnose, hone, and encourage growth in any area of focus desired. This workshop is designed for any level of skill, although some flameworking experience may be helpful, it is not required. I can detail a fruitful fundamental course for any interested student from true beginner to advanced. The point of this workshop is to gain a firm understanding on pointed areas of flameworking, to level up your skill set, and give confidence to walking knowledge. Some note taking will be helpful and most of the time will be spent on the torch. The studio provides nortel minor burners, this is what will be used during the session and all tools are provided, but students are welcome to bring their own tools as well. This opportunity will be best utilized with some preliminary communication in the form of emailing in order to dedicate the time to the student in the most effective way.
