This intermediate chasing and repousse class explores the techniques used to create a shallow relief or pattern on a curved surface. Students will learn how to create depth and illusion through the manipulation of light and shadow on a copper bowl of 6-inch diameter. Class objectives include the exploration of technique and conceptual development of sculpting a three-dimensional surface. Students will create a pattern, or design to be transferred onto a spherical surface while considering the final functionality of the piece as a vessel.
A materials fee of $245 is included in the tuition. Students will receive a pre-formed Copper bowl in 18 Ga. approx 6 in diameter, a chasing hammer, a chasing tool set, a pitch block, and a pitch bowl.
Cancellation/Refund Policy:
The Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen does not provide cash refunds for the cancellation of classes unless the class is canceled by the instructor or the Guild.
In order to request a withdrawal from a workshop, students must contact the Guild by phone at 717-431-8706 or contact us here at least 7 days prior to the class. Students who request a withdrawal at least 7 days prior to the class will receive a credit that can be used toward another workshop. No refunds or transfers will be given to cancellation requests made with less than 24 hours’ notice of the class.
