Instructor: Carol Reed
Skill Level: Beginner
Join us to naturally dye a one-of-a-kind scarf. We’ll use fresh eucalyptus leaves to create a unique pattern on a 14” x 72” silk or wool gauze scarf. Through the magic of eco-dyeing, the leaves impart their color to the cloth. In the first session, you’ll put your scarves together, place them in the dye bath, and learn about the process. We’ll also make string bracelets from naturally dyed cotton with a naturally dyed bead as we wait for the water to boil. While the scarves are dyeing, you’ll have free time from 10:30 to noon to visit Central Market, downtown shops, or get a cup of coffee. At noon we’ll remove the scarves from the bath and have the “big reveal”.
Please note that a materials fee is due to the instructor at the start of the class. Material fees: $20 for a silk scarf and $30 for a wool gauze scarf.
Appropriate for: Teen to adult
Please wear old clothes.
