Instructor: Barry Miller
Skill Level: Beginner
My name is Bud and my woodcarving journey began in 1993 carving twigs and branches into roosters and herons. It was a short-lived journey though. When our daughter was born my carving stopped, but I was able to pick it back up when we moved back to PA fifteen years ago. I love carving Christmas ornament and caricature figures and I would love to introduce you to this art form. Join me in learning about the tools required to begin woodcarving, the types of wood I prefer to carve, and carving something for yourself. During this day of carving you will learn the three basic cuts used, how to keep your tools sharp, and how to stay safe while carving. Join us and you will carve an owl and hedgehog. Don’t have any carving tools? No problem. I will provide all of the tools, wood, and safety equipment to learn and complete these projects. I will have some tools available if you’d like to continue carving, which, for many, is likely. This is a class for anyone that is over the age of 12, but if you are under 18 then you will need someone to sit in with you.
All materials will be provided. Kits will be available for students to purchase if they have an interest in carving at home.
