Skill Level: Beginner

Create ink using plants and iron. We’ll create two inks, one gray/black from nuts or sumac and iron and a clear yellow from marigolds or turmeric. While the ink is cooking, you’ll create a sketchbook with drawings and watercolor paper to practice your penmanship with when the ink is ready. And we’ll make string using naturally dyed beads and cotton cloth. Participants will leave with two bottles of ink, a calligraphy pen (pen holder and nib), and a 4” x 6” sketchbook they created.

Appropriate for: Teen to adult

A materials fee of $10 is due to the instructor at the start of the class.

Please wear old clothes.

Cancellation/Refund Policy:

The Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen does not provide cash refunds for the cancellation of classes unless the class is canceled by the instructor or the Guild.

In order to request a withdrawal from a workshop, students must contact the Guild by phone at 717-431-8706 or contact us here at least 7 days prior to the class. Students who request a withdrawal at least 7 days prior to the class will receive a credit that can be used toward another workshop. No refunds or transfers will be given to cancellation requests made with less than 24 hours’ notice of the class.
