Stained Glass Halloween Special Opportunity – Spider Webs!

Instructor: Dan Hayward

Skill Level: Beginner to Intermediate

Class description: Master Artisan Dan Hayward has created a number of patterns for stained glass Spider Webs.  Available only during October, this class offers each participant the opportunity to create an artwork that is unique in look and character.  Unleash your imagination in selecting glass for each element of the web – or choose to allow “negative space.  (If you just really don’t like the architectural wonders created by arachnids, Dan has a selection of more conventional patterns from which you may choose.)

Dan will introduce participants to the tools and techniques to create works in stained glass using the copper foil method.  The first day begins with a safety overview and an introduction to the tools used.  Persons new to working with glass or those needing a refresher will practice cutting and breaking glass to become familiar with the basic tools and skills.  Then you may select a pattern and glass.  From there, Dan will guide you through the process of cutting and grinding glass for your selected pattern, applying copper foil, soldering the individual pieces together, and finally framing the piece.

Registration fee includes multiple patterns from which to choose, all glass, tools, and supplies. Each student will complete a stained glass panel of approximately one square foot.

Individuals who have participated in previous stained glass classes are welcome to return, and Dan will offer to them more complex Spider Web patterns OR you may design your own Web with guidance and prior approval from Dan.
