PGC Fine Craft Fair Artist FAQ
Do I have to be a member to be in the show?
No, you do not. However, members get a discount on their booth fees in addition to the many other benefits of membership. If you participate in two shows per year with the Guild, you will save your membership fee plus at least $25.
What’s included with my booth fee?
Your booth fee includes floor space rental, booth sign, pipe & drape, exhibitor badge plus assistance badge(s), listing in our show program, and regional and local marketing campaigns including print, radio, billboards and social media promotions.
Pipe & drape? How does that work?
The guild is providing pipe & drape (with ivory or white colored drapes) for all artists to provide a unified and elevated look to the show. It means artists don’t have to provide their own walls, but it comes with its own limitations. Pipe & drape is not designed to hang displays or merchandise. Artists may only hang lightweight signs (such as vinyl banners) from the pipes and lighting. If you want a crossbar on the front of your booth to hang lighting, you must request it no later than 15 days before the show.
But what if I need to be able to hang my displays or artwork? What are my options?
You have lots of options! You can use free standing displays. You can use gridwall, hardwalls or Propanels. You can even bring in your own pipe and drape to set up inside your footprint, as long as you have at least an inch clearance inside the provided pipe and drape. If you need help brainstorming how to make your display work, please email us here.
I juried in with my glass/wood/ceramic/etc artwork but I also want to sell my jewelry. Is that a problem?
You may only display and sell jewelry if you juried for jewelry. Our floor jury will walk the floor looking for issues where artists are displaying work outside the category they juried for as well as copyright/trademark violations. If they see any, they will ask you to remove it from your display.
What’s a floor jury?
Members of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen’s standards committee will floor jury all of our shows. They will look at all the booths before the show opens to make sure that the work being shown and the appearance of the booth match (within reason) what was submitted to the jury. They look for evidence of buy-sell as well as making sure that people who jury in wood, for example, aren’t displaying jewelry. They also look for copyrighted/trademarked items, which aren’t allowed in our shows. (For example, no Eagles or Phillies designs, nor Disney characters.)
In addition, they will choose among those participating Master Artisans for a Benchmark Award.
What are Master Artisans?
PGC members are eligible to jury to be named Master Artisans. Master Artisans get special consideration when jurying for guild shows, as well as being eligible for a Benchmark Award during those shows.
You can find more information about the process and benefits here.
Do I need insurance for this show?
The Guild does not require proof of insurance from artists, but it is strongly recommended that you have insurance to cover your work in transit and during the show. The Guild is not responsible for lost or stolen artwork. Artists are also liable for injury within their space, whether to themselves, other artists or shoppers.
